1Research   Area

1) Modeling, simulation   and control of large complex nuclear energy systems, and application of   advanced control theories, algorithms and strategies;
  2) Highly reliable, digital, intelligent I&C system of nuclear power   plant;
  3) Reactor I&C critical system equipment (such as protection system,   nuclear measurement system, etc.);
  4) High reliability software design technology, software verification and   validation (V&V) technology;
  5) Fault warning, fault diagnosis, condition monitoring, lifetime prediction;
  6) Operator operation support technology;
  7) Security of industrial control systems;
  8) Reactor electrical engineering, advanced reactor power systems and power   system reliability;
  9) Application of artificial intelligence in nuclear energy system.

2Lab and   facilities

The Division has three   I&C research and verification platforms. (1) Key digital I&C   prototype verification platform, (2) Multi-modular HTGR main control   room and human factor engineering verification platform,  simulating two   reactor modules, six reactor modules and ten reactor modules with a turbine   power generation and heating applications, (3) Industrial control system   security testbed.

3Achievements   and hightlights

The Division publishes   about 20 academic papers every year.

Research Highlights

(1I&C   and its digitalization

1960s, the shielding test   reactor, I&C system with analog technology;

1970s, No. 820 Project,   closed-loop reactor power regulator by self-built computer, the first case in   China;

1980s, NHR-5, I&C   system based on digital and analog hybrid technology, the first case in   China;

1990s, HTR-10, fully   digital I&C system, the first case in China;

2010s, HTR-PM Demo   project, fully digital I&C system supporting "two reactor modules   with one turbine".

  (2) Multi-modular HTGR coordinated operation control technology

A lot of pioneering work   has been carried out in the fields of modeling, control, simulation and   verification for multi-module HTGR nuclear power plant. The coordinated   operation control of "two reactor modules with one turbine" for   HTR-PM Demo has been successfully adopted.
