Milestones

 

 

1960

INET was   founded.

1964

The experimental   Shielding Reactor was put into operation.

1966

New technology   for reprocessing irradiated nuclear fuels by solvent extraction was   successfully developed.

1989

The 5MW Nuclear   Heating Reactor was put into operation.

1995

Construction of   the 10MW High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor started.

1996

R&D of   separation treatment of High Level Liquid Waste (HLLW) was successful.

1999

The 60Co   Container Inspection System was set up.

2000

The 10MW High   Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor reached its criticality.

2003

The 10MW High   Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor reached its full power operation and began to   supply power to the grid.

2004

HTR-PM standard   design was started jointly by INET and CHINERGY.

2006

HTR-PM Project   was listed in the National Guideline on Medium- and Long-Term Program for   Science and Technology Development (2006-2020).

2006

Huaneng Shandong   Shidaowan Nuclear Power Co., Ltd, the HTR-PM owner company, was established   jointly invested by China Huaneng Group, Nuclear Industry Construction Group   and Tsinghua University.

2008

The State   Research Center for Nuclear Power Technology was set up focusing on   R&D of key technologies applied to large-scale advanced pressurized water   reactor (PWR) nuclear power plant and based in INET of Tsinghua University.

2009

The cornerstone   laying ceremony of the Laboratory of Advanced Reactor Engineering was held at   INET, which marked the beginning of the construction of the national key   project research base.

2012

HTR-PM first   concrete dumping.

2021

First module of   HTR-PM reached criticality;

HTR-PM was   connected to the grid.

2022

Both HTR-PM   modules reached initial full power.

2023

HTR-PM entered commercial   operation
