MAO Zongqiang

Resume

Professor of Tsinghua University, a native of P.R.China, graduated from Tsinghua University ( in 1970, 1980), University of Bradford (UK, in 1994), with degrees in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc.1970), Applied Chemistry (MSc. 1980) and Chemical Engineering (Ph.D.1993).

In 1970, he joined Institute of Nuclear Energy Technology (INET), Tsinghua University. In early 1994, he engaged in Fuel Cells research and development and became the Director of Graduate Studies in Chemical Engineering. He served as Director of the Lab of Chemical Engineering, 1995-present. In 1997, as visiting professor he was in Karlsruhe Research Center (Germany) for R&D of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells.

Prof. Dr. Z.Q.Mao successfully hold 13th World Hydrogen Energy Conference (WHEC13) on 12-15 June 2000 in Beijing, and published both hard copy and electric copy of proceedings of WHEC13 in two volumes, total 1385 pages.

He has been an invited consultant on PEMFC vehicles to Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST). Prof. Mao and his colleagues have prepared a project concerned with demo of Fuel Cell Buses in China to GEF/UNDP.

In October 2003, Prof. Dr. Z.Q.Mao has been elected to Chairman in the China Association for Hydrogen Energy (CAHE) and Prof. Dr. Z.Q.Mao was elected as Board Member of International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE) on 16 December 2000.

Prof. DR. Z.Q.Mao was successful in HYFORUM 2004 which a Top level international hydrogen forum hold in Beijing on 25-28 May 2004. It will be great helpful for hydrogen economy in the world.

Prof. Dr. Z.Q.Mao was also a Chief Scientist for National key Fundamental Project “Fundamental research for hydrogen production, storage and transportation in large scale and relative fuel cells’. (The first National Hydrogen 973 project in China). There are 18 institutes and universities from China in this project..

Prof. DR. Z.Q.Mao is expert for both Hydrogen education and project reviewer in International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy (IPHE) which a government Organization set up in Washington on November 2003.
