Shanghai, September 12, 2026 —— The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China has officially released the 2025 World-Class Science and Technology Journals Directory, with Experimental and Computational Multiphase Flow (ECMF, ISSN: 2661-8869) successfully included in the list.
A New Milestone for ECMF
Experimental and Computational Multiphase Flow (ECMF) is an English-language quarterly journal administered by the Ministry of Education of China and sponsored by Tsinghua University. It is jointly published by Tsinghua University Press and Springer.
ECMF's inclusion in the Directory represents an important milestone in the journal's continued development and growing international academic influence. The 2025 World-Class Science and Technology Journals Directory was developed based on the World Science Citation Database and a comprehensive evaluation framework for world-class scientific and technological journals. The latest edition includes 6,132 journals from 55 countries and regions in 23 languages, among which 353 journals are from China. The evaluation framework assesses journals across four key dimensions: academic organizational capacity, academic leadership, academic impact, and societal impact. It is designed to provide a fair and objective basis for evaluating academic journals published in different languages worldwide.
Growing Academic Impact and Global Recognition
According to the latest available metrics, Experimental and Computational Multiphase Flow has achieved a Journal Impact Factor (JCR 2025) of 7.3 and a 2025 CiteScore of 10.2.
The journal ranks in the Q1 category in Mechanics, placing 11th among 172 journals worldwide (top 7%), and in the Q1 category in Thermodynamics, ranking 6th among 78 journals worldwide (top 8%).
These results reflect the journal's growing visibility and influence within the international multiphase flow, fluid mechanics, and thermal sciences communities.
About ECMF
Founded in 2019, Experimental and Computational Multiphase Flow is China's first independently established international academic journal dedicated to the field of multiphase flow.
The journal receives academic support from the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (INET), Tsinghua University. Professor Shengyao Jiang of Tsinghua University serves as Editor-in-Chief, with Professor Jiyuan Tu of RMIT University, Australia, serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief.
ECMF publishes high-quality original research and reviews covering experimental, computational, and theoretical advances in multiphase flow and related interdisciplinary fields.
The journal is currently indexed in ESCI, Ei Compendex, Scopus, and CSCD, and is ranked in Zone 1 (Top) in the journal ranking system of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The inclusion of ECMF in the 2025 World-Class Science and Technology Journals Directory marks a significant recognition of the journal's academic quality and international influence. Moving forward, ECMF will continue to provide a high-level international platform for researchers worldwide to communicate cutting-edge advances and promote innovation in multiphase flow science and engineering.
