NUS Delegation Visits INET for Academic Exchange

On January 9, 2026, a delegation led by Professor LEE Poh Seng from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) visited the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (INET) at Tsinghua University for a one-day academic exchange. The visit aimed to enhance mutual understanding in the field of advanced nuclear energy technology and to explore potential collaborations in scientific research and talent cultivation.

During the morning session, Professor WANG Haitao, Deputy Dean for International Affairs at INET, warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of the institute. He provided a comprehensive overview of INET’s development history, research fields, as well as the progress and engineering applications of High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) technology. The delegation then toured INETs key facilities, including the 10 MW HTGR test reactor, the engineering simulator for six-module HTGR, and the HTR-PM Engineering Laboratory.

In the afternoon, the two parties engaged in an in-depth academic exchange. Several INET faculty members presented their latest research achievements covering structural mechanics, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear fuel technology, and system safety analysis. These presentations highlighted INET’s contributions to HTGR key technologies and frontier exploration. Professor LEE Poh Seng introduced the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS, sharing its general overview and primary research focus.

During the exchange, both sides engaged in enthusiastic discussions and expressed their willingness to actively promote collaboration in joint research, academic exchanges, and talent cultivation.

Other INET faculty members in attendance were Professor Shi Li, Associate Professors Sun Jun, Gui Nan, Chen Xiaotong, Zhao Jun, etc.
