INET Operated a Joint Annual Meeting on Research Reactors in Chengdu

From 4 to 6 Nov. 2025, the CNS Research Reactors and New Reactors Branch (CNS RRNR) and MOE Key Laboratory of Advanced Reactor Engineering and Safety (MOE KLARES) successfully concluded the 2025 joint annual meeting in Chengdu. The event brought together more than 200 experts from over 60 institutions worldwide. INET organized this joint meeting, acting as the primary supporting institution for the aforementioned organizations.

The meeting facilitated in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge topics such as research reactor design, application technologies, and international cooperation. Mr. Junchong Yu, an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, shared his forward-looking perspectives on the development of nuclear power technology in his plenary speech. Professor Lei Shi, the Director of INET, delivered a speech about the recent progress of the Tsinghua High Flux Reactor (THFR) project. Professor Jiyuan Tu presented the research achievements about pebble flow on High Temperature Gas-cooled Pebble-Bed Reactors. Invited topical speeches covered areas including the dynamics of gas-cooled micro-reactor, radioisotope production technology, and so on.

The Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) co-organized this joint annual meeting with INET. High-level platforms for academic and industrial collaboration are deemed essential for promoting integrated innovation across the research, education, and application sectors.
