The inaugural Tsinghua University High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) Summer School took place successfully in Beijing from 2 to 13 June 2025. This pioneering program marked Tsinghua's first specialized summer school dedicated to HTGR technology hosted by the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (INET) .

28 technical lectures were delivered during the summer school, covering 10 key HTGR topics, including current R&D progress, design philosophy, safety features, operational performance, fuel development, supply chain, etc.. Technical tours, cultural experiences, and sporting events were also arranged over the 10-day period. 11 students representing 7 countries completed all the academic requirements successfully and were awarded certificates of participation.

The summer school came to a wonderful end with great affirmations from the students. One student creatively reinterpreted the acronym HTGR as "Holistic understanding, Technical enrichment, Global perspective, Rich experience." Another remarked, “This was the best experience I've ever had. We participated in a wide variety of activities, including technical lectures, visiting and exploring the sites in Beijing. Attending this Summer School allowed me to have a truly wonderful time."
