Areas of Research Interests/ Research Projects

Prof. Lis research interests are thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactor system and equipment. Especially about heat transfer equipment (steam generators and intermediate heat exchanger) and passive safety systems of advanced nuclear reactors.

1. Steam generators and intermediate heat exchangers

Helical tube once through steam generator of HTGR. Intermediate Heat Exchanger of HTGR. Turbulent heat transfer and heat transfer enhancement. Two phase flow instability. High pressure and high temperature loops. Supercritical fluid flow and heat transfer.

2. Passive residual heat removal and containment cooling systems

Multi-coupled natural circulation systems. Ocean effects on the thermal hydraulics of natural circulation systems. Post-accident heat and mass transfer in reactor containments. Convective condensation with non-condensable gases.

3. Heat and mass transfer in the nuclear reactor porous media

Heat transfer in the pebble bed porous media of the HTGR reactor core. Heat and mass transfer coupled chemical reaction in the graphite porous media.
